A Wireless ADSL Router is a wireless router that is designed specifically for ADSL broadband connections. Most people in the UK have ADSL broadband, so a wireless ADSL router is the most common type of wireless router.
ADSL Broadband
ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) broadband is the most common kind of broadband connection in the UK. ADSL uses a standard BT phone line and converts it into a digital line that can send and receive data at high speeds. It can use used as a phone line at the same time.
Even if your line rental is with a provider other then BT, you are likely to still have ADSL broadband. Providers that provide line rental like TalkTalk, Tiscali and AOL use the BT network.
The main alternative to ADSL broadband is cable broadband. The only major provider in the UK to offer cable broadband is Virgin Media (formerly Telewest and NTL).
Wireless Router
A wireless router is a device that plugs into your broadband line. It allows you to transmit your broadband connection throughout your house or small office without the need for wires or cables. You can connect to the internet from anywhere that is in range. You can connect multiple computers to your network. This means that you can access the internet from different computers at the same time. You can also share files with other computers in the wireless network.
Wireless ADSL Router
A wireless ADSL router is simply a wireless router that can be used with a ADSL broadband line. It will often include an integrated ADSL modem. If it does not include an ADSL modem, you will need a separate one. Your broadband provider will normally provide you with an ADSL modem.
